When I liberated the handset from the packaging, I was amazed at its diminutive size and I was wondering how well the phone ergonomics work. As it turns out, it could be better. The keypad is small, so small you need to focus on where your fingertip pushes. The keypad lettering is difficult to see and the key backlighting is ineffective in brighter ambient lighting situations.

Sound quality seems to be fair to good, volume is adequate unless you are in a noisy location. I have not experienced any of the echo cancellation problems mentioned by others, perhaps the latest firmware addressed this problem.

As others have reported, one time I had to re-enter my router's security key even though the device was never in a low/no battery situation. This is a bit of a hassle given the fact you need to cycle each key to enter the correct character.

The color screen is reasonably easy to see given its relatively low resolution.

Bottom line: if there would have been a better product out there, I would have purchased it instead of the IPEVO. As far as I could tell from my research, this is the best Skype WiFi phone with integrated Skype software on the market today. The IPEVO is begging for a more worthy competitor to be released into the marketplace. When it happens, this phone will live the rest of its life in a drawer.
