I bought this unit so my elderly parents can watch their grandchildren grow up from hundreds of miles away with the simplicity of a cordless phone. After setting it up and trying it out, I have to say I am impressed with the ease of use and the overall quality and performance.

Set up was pretty straight forward. Once connected to my secured network, I have yet to notice any drops. I powered it down then back up and it logged onto my network with no issue or additional input - convenient should my parents lose their wireless signal or power.

Like another reviewer, I wasn't able to find all of the desired contacts using just the video phone, but I logged the video phone off Skype, logged on with a PC, and found the rest of the contacts. When I logged the PC off of Skype and logged back on with the video phone, the PC-added contacts then appeared on the video phone - nice.

I then made a few test calls. Sound quality is excellent for the speakerphone-portion of the unit - crystal clear. I adjusted the video settings and found an agreeable and realistic warm color hue.

If you're looking for a simple solution to enable a non-tech saavy person to use Skype, I highly recommend this unit. If you want high-def and the customization you'd normally get using a laptop or desktop, then go that route.
